Day 3 in Guangzhou

Ni Hao everyone...

Well another day has come to an end in our China adventure. Again, it was a pretty uneventful day. We had our physical appointment this morning and like Stacy posted, it really was not that bad. Mina did very well. They do 3 exams (if that’s what you want to call it). First they checked her weight, height and temperature. She weights 18 lbs. Nest we went to the ENT section. Suz and I just had to laugh at it. They make some noise on each side of her head and see if she follows the noise. That was the hearing test. They did a quick look into her ears and that was about it. Off to the surgery exam. They listened to her heart, and looked over her body. Looking for something obvious I guess… and that was it. It took all of 30 min. It was kind of hectic with all the families in one room going around from doctor to doctor. All in all it was not all that bad and we did great. She gets upset and struggles when you do something she doesn’t like but she stops as soon as you finish. She is such a good baby. As I’m writing this, I can here several other babies crying and its 10pm. Mina has been asleep since about 8:30 and will sleep till 6am.

We had the rest of the day off so we took it petty easy. We did lots of shopping. Thanks again to Stacy. We found Michaels shop and got a few good items there. He was an extremely nice man and we got to meet his 4 month old boy.

I got up this morning feeling extra crummy. Our guide, Sabrina, got me some Chinese herbal medicine last night and I broke down and tried it. It’s this dark brown liquid in these small plastic tubes. It smells horrid. I popped the top off of one and pored it under my tongue. Oh my god was it nasty. But down it went. It must have some sort of alcohol in it. It went down hot. Believe it or not… it really seemed to work. By noon, I was feeling much better and by dinner I was able to eat the most I have eaten on the whole trip. Amazing! I’m going to bring the rest of the bottles back for a latter date. I’m sure I will need it in the future. I think I have lost over 10 lbs on the trip. Between being sick and just not eating as much and being much more active, the pounds are coming off.

That was about all of the excitement for the day. It was a petty nice day weather wise. Sunny but a nice breeze. If you’re out in the sun it can be quite hot but in the shade, it’s nice.

Well I will sign off for now. Tomorrow we just have to be around in the morning in case there are questions about any of the paper work and we have the afternoon off.

Two more days till we leave…

    Dear Little Family,

Still excited to see all you are doing, even if it is the unpleasant stuff! Gee! You guys are getting a serious crash course in parenting! Let's see: getting to know an infant (especially those "likes and dislikes" business), traveling with an infant, dealing with an infant while you aren't feeling well, meltdowns in public places, lack of sleep, bottles, waking in the wee hours (forget those weekend sleep-ins!)etc., etc., etc.!!! You will be seasoned veterans before you even get home!!

I have read all the comments that people post, and you are so blessed to have so many family and friends!! Mina is so fortunate to get such a BIG family!! Not to mention such a loving one too!

We hope your last leg(s) of travel will be less eventful in the sense of chaos, but filled with exciting adventures that will be with you all your lives when you retell her your stories of how a little princess came to be a part of your lives.

Still praying for you until you reach the homeland...
